Maurice Civers-Davis

Maurice “Mo” Civers-Davis is a service-disabled U.S. Air Force veteran, serial entrepreneur, and certified leadership and performance coach with more than 20 years of combined military and civilian federal service. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he continued his public service career with the Department of the Navy, where he led initiatives at the highest levels of government and helped shape strategy across the defense ecosystem before retiring in 2025.
Throughout his career—from combat zones to executive conference rooms—Mo has led complex, high-stakes initiatives requiring clarity, courage, and disciplined execution. He most recently served as Deputy Director of the Department of the Navy’s HBCU/MI Program Office at the Office of Naval Research, where he championed innovation, access, and opportunity for historically underserved institutions and communities.
Mo is the Founder and CEO of Civers-Davis Development, a leadership and performance coaching firm supporting mission-driven leaders and organizations navigating growth and transformation. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of Independence Foundry, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit focused on strengthening defense and dual-use technology ecosystems through collaboration, talent development, and strategic innovation.
A Certified Leadership and Performance Coach through Brown University in partnership with ACT Leadership, Mo works with mission driven leaders and organizations seeking to unlock bold potential and achieve sustainable, high-level performance without burnout. A lifelong learner, Mo attended Tuskegee University and Colorado Technical University, where he began graduate studies. He also holds multiple professional certifications from leading institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University.
Mo has served on several national boards and advisory bodies supporting universities, centers of excellence, and K–12 institutions. His leadership has been recognized with numerous awards from the U.S. Department of Defense, the City of Philadelphia, and most recently the United States Department of the Navy Civilian Service Achievement Medal (2024).
Mo believes leadership is not about titles — it is about impact. He is committed to empowering veterans and mission-driven communities to lead boldly, navigate complexity with confidence, and build legacies that matter.
